“To come fresh off the airport and straight into the IANS studio to tell my story to inspire many more is something I have been wanting to do as soon as I land. My story begins like anyone of you, through struggles and the grind of daily work with a precarious future. Coming from Nigeria, irrespective of how much you earn, making a living is very difficult. I pray that things improve in Nigeria, but the daily problems ranging from security to economic woes can play on your mind constantly. I simply could not go on any longer without making important choices in life. So began my rendezvous with IANS.
I had a sister who was a nurse wanting to work in the UK and there were different people pulling her in all directions and IANS was also part of that discussion. It was through her I was introduced to IANS, while she relented, I grabbed the opportunity and signed up for the webinar and the results are there for everyone to see. I have tried so many things to get into the UK but hit a brick wall every time. Some were expensive, others were not the real deal, and I was simply saddened every time an opportunity slipped away.
Everything was in place for me to start work, be it my job, a place to stay, airport pickup, ticketing, the list was thorough. IANS made me care about the importance of caregiving, it sparked something in me, and it is that which led me to come to the UK as a senior carer.
How I found my way from Nigeria to UK itself is a miracle, but more pertinently I believe IANS had a hand in it and a big one too. My children were one of the main reasons for me to take this leap of faith but also that I wanted to work in the UK. My family will join me soon and I am simply overjoyed at the prospect of the stories we are about to write in the next chapter of our lives.”
